Hughes Myner, director of sales and marketing-mobility solutions for Ottobock, Canada, has been selected as a technician for the 2014 Sochi Paralympic Games.
He is one of the 28 members of Ottobock’s Prosthetic, Orthotic and Wheelchair Technical Service Team.
This is the second time Myner has been selected as a technician, having worked as a welder in the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Myner has 15 years of experience in coaching, directing and refereeing wheelchair rugby, and has also created products throughout his mobility career.
“I’m looking forward to Sochi, with a focus on repairing sledges and other tools the winter athletes need to compete,” he stated in a press release.
Ottobock will operate workshops in the mountain and coastal Athlete’s Villages, as well as competition venues for alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and sledge hockey during the competition, and offer service to 600 Paralympians.
For the past 25 years, Ottobock has provided technical service for the games, and is privileged to support athletes from around the globe, Hans Georg Nader, president and chief operating officer of Ottobock Healthcare, stated in the release.
“The Paralympics are an emotional commitment for us,” he said. “The movement has long since become an integral part of our company culture and is ingrained in our corporate DNA.”
