Keith Gabel, world snowboarding champion from Ogden, Utah, has been named the newest Ottobock Ambassador.
A transtibial amputee, Gabel will promote the importance of an active lifestyle and showcase Ottobobock’s latest technology, and he will also serve as a role model for young athletes with disabilities.
“I am proud to partner with Ottobock for multiple reasons,” Gabel stated in a press release. “But mainly because they build products that withstand the kind of beating an active amputee such as myself can, and will, put them through.”
As a member of the first US Para Snowboard team, Gabel is a favorite to medal when the event makes its Paralympic debut in Sochi 2014.
Gabel has won gold in the X-Games Para Snowboard Cross and is a seven-time World Cup medalist. He aspires to one day being the first Para Snowboarder to land the double back flip on snow.
His appetite for challenge makes him the ideal ambassador, according to Karen Lundquist, Ottobock’s director of communications, North America.
“Keith’s myriad of activities and the feedback he can give us…will greatly contribute to how we reach and support people with limb loss around the world,” she stated in the release.
