, DPM, has joined Valley Presbyterian Hospital, Van Nuys, Calif., as the co-director of its Amputation Prevention Center.
The Amputation Prevention Center brings together the interdisciplinary expertise of vascular and podiatric surgeons, limb salvage and wound management specialists in a state-of-the-art setting.
Belczyk joined the medical staff in September 2010 as a board certified podiatric surgeon specializing in infection, deformity correction, and post-traumatic foot and ankle reconstruction. In his new role, he will work with Amputation Prevention Center medical director George Andros, MD, to lead a team of podiatric and vascular surgery specialists to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to limb preservation.
Belczyk is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, Calif., and completed his podiatric residency and fellowship in limb salvage techniques at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Belczyk lectures on the topics of diabetic Charcot reconstruction and soft tissue coverage of the diabetic foot. He also has published scientific articles on the topics of Charcot foot and podiatric surgical procedures.
