The American Board of Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics Inc., announced that Curt A. Bertram, CO, FAAOP, assumed the role of president of the ABC board of directors on Dec. 1. Timothy E. Miller, CPO, will continue to serve as immediate past president.
Bertram began volunteering with ABC as an orthotics examiner and exam team member, as well as an active participant in the certification exam process, as an orthotic clinical patient management examiner and site coordinator. He has served on the ABC executive, finance and marketing committees and with the O&P Alliance.
Bertram has 23 years of O&P experience and joined the ABC board in December 2009, helping to create many of ABC’s current policies. He currently works for Hanger Clinic as their national orthotics specialist and has served as vice president for the United Cerebral Palsy of Southwestern Wisconsin board of directors, according to a press release.
“I am both excited and humbled knowing the huge responsibility that lies before me,” Bertram stated in the release. “ABC is a wonderful organization with volunteerism from the profession at its core. I’ve been volunteering with ABC for over 16 years and I am honored to now lead this passionate group of professionals. I hope to continue fulfilling our mission and vision to help lead ABC as the premier standard for certification and accreditation in the profession.”
