The Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation recently hosted First Swim, First Paddle and First Dive clinics at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, according to a press release.
The clinics, which were sponsored by the University of Michigan Orthotics & Prosthetics Center and coordinated by O&P students from Eastern Michigan, were held concurrently to give participants a choice of adaptive water sports. More than 17 participants attended the clinics, some of whom participated in all three sports.
“First Swim allowed me to be able to face the fear of swimming,” Samuel Barnes, a participant at the event, stated in the release. “First time being in the water, and it was very helpful.”
