ISPO World Congress begins in India

The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics World Congress began in Hyderabad, India and will end on Feb. 7, according to a press release.

Presentations will cover a range of topics, including currents standards for the provision of prostheses and orthoses, biomechanics, exoskeletons and therapeutic treatments for infantile cerebral palsy. More than 100 exhibitors from 24 countries will also be in attendance.

This is the first year that the ISPO World Congress is being held in an emerging nation.

“We very much welcome this development,” Helene von Groote, the project director at Leipziger Messe, who is responsible for the international trade exhibition, stated in the release. “There is often an enormous need for health care aids here, and our exhibitors demonstrate how the provision of such care can be achieved in a medically satisfactory, yet cost-effective way.”
