The National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education announced the launch of the first centralized application service to streamline and simplify the application process for prospective students applying to multiple orthotic and prosthetic programs, according to a press release.
The Orthotics and Prosthetics Centralized Application Service (OPCAS) is currently enrolling schools with accredited O&P programs into the service to help ensure orthotic and prosthetic educational programs exceed quality admissions standards. These schools include Baylor College of Medicine; California State University, Domiguez Hills; Loma Linda University; St. Petersburg College; University of Texas, Southwestern; and University of Washington.
Students who apply through OPCAS submit only one set of transcripts, essays and reference letters for all their schools of choice. Applications can be completed all at once or over multiple sessions and the progress and status can be monitored online, via phone or email support, with a forthcoming mobile application. Application fees are payable via e-commerce transaction.
“Ultimately, the service provides direct access to all participating O&P schools in one convenient, online location. The participating schools are excited about the benefit this will bring to future students and look forward to seeing an enthusiastic response from the first group of applicants,” Robin Seabrook, executive director of NCOPE, stated in the release.
