The Amputee Coalition has named Dawn Draayer as development director. Draayer brings a strong background in nonprofit fundraising to the organization.
“Dawn brings a wealth of experience in annual fund campaign development, major gifts cultivation and development operations, as well as a passion for work that empowers the lives of others,” Kendra Calhoun, president and CEO of the Amputee Coalition, stated in a press release. “Dawn’s enthusiasm, experience and development successes are great matches for the leadership we need in our Development Department.”
Draayer previously served as development programs manager for the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, where she managed development operations, corporate and foundation giving, annual fundraising and donor cultivation.
A graduate of Cornell University and the United World College of Southeast Asia, Draayer started her career on Wall Street at Standard & Poor’s and Prudential Securities. She later became the grant writer for the Center for Multicultural Human Services, an organization providing services for immigrant and refugee survivors of torture and trauma. After managing a portfolio of more than $2.7 million at the Center, Draayer became the director of development operations/regional director of major gifts for the Grameen Foundation, a nonprofit foundation focused on fighting global poverty through access to microfinance and technology.
Draayer then served as director of individual giving for the Brookings Institution, where she managed the major gift program for the Global Economy and Development Department.
