Today (January 12) is the suggested deadline for Backup Authorized Officials (BAOs) to register for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Round 2 and mail-order competitions for Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies.
Any individual who wants to register as a BAO is strongly encouraged to register immediately, in order to meet the registration deadline of February 9. Once a BAO is registered, he or she will be able to assist the Authorized Official (AO) with registering End Users. The BAO will also be able to assume the role of the AO if the AO can no longer fulfill the bidding responsibilities.
