First Volley Adaptive Tennis has increased its national staff by 25%
with the addition of Fred Johnson and Frank Adams as certified First Volley
instructors. Both men were certified by First Volley director of tennis, Darren
Kindred, at the recent First Volley Clinic at the University of Northern
Iowa’s Adapted Sports Camp in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., is the diversity manager
for the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA), Missouri Valley section. He has a love
for the game of tennis and desire to grow the game for the underserved
population. In June, Johnson participated in the First Volley Tennis Clinic
held in Kansas City, Mo., with the Amputee Coalition Conference.
Adams is a former president of the USTA, Mountain
District, and is also recognized as a leader and coach in wheelchair tennis.
The Denver native brings his wheelchair expertise to First Volley, which has a
number of wheelchair players looking for a chance to play the game of tennis.
Adams previously participated with a First Volley Tennis Clinic for Shriners
Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City.
With the addition of Johnson and Adams, the First Volley
Adaptive Tennis staff is now at 10.
