The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics Inc. (ABC), donated $10,000 to the Amputee Coalition’s Bridge to Ability Fund in memory of Todd Anderson, CP, FAAOP. This donation was designated for scholarships to new amputees to attend the national conference earlier this month in Kansas City, Mo.
“ABC was honored to be able to make this donation to honor Todd’s compassion and involvement in serving the amputee population. The ABC board felt that this was a fitting tribute to his memory and that these monies would help continue the good works that were the hallmark of Todd’s contributions to his profession and the public,” Catherine A. Carter, ABC executive director, stated in a press release.
Created by the Amputee Coalition’s board of directors in 2010, the Bridge to Ability Fund is designed to give new amputees the ability to attend the conference and connect with others.
“We are grateful to ABC for this generous donation in memory of Todd Anderson,” Kendra Calhoun, president and chief executive officer of the Amputee Coalition, stated in a press release. “With this gift and those of our other partners, we were able to bring 22 new Bridge Scholars to our national conference. This was particularly significant this year as we celebrated our 25th anniversary at the conference and we were able to honor Todd as well. As we hear the positive feedback from these grateful people, the memory of Todd and his leadership and passion for the industry lives on. Through the generosity of ABC, these new amputees will form lifelong friends and networks.”
