The International African American Prosthetic & Orthotic Coalition (IAAOPC) held its 21st Annual Meeting this May in Charlotte, N.C.
On Friday, May 6, the scientific program began with “Medical Conditions for the Amputee” by Sharon Kanelos, MD. Following Kanelos’ presentation were Ed White of Flo-Tech and “Saving & Investing After the Great Recession” by Maurice Wilson.
The “Echelon Foot” by Henry Christner followed Wilson. The day ended with “Custom Molded TLSO’s & LSO’s” by Jackie Valdez, “Adding S.O.A.P. to Your Notes” by Carolyn Scott, PT, CP, LP (member of IAAPOC board of directors) and “The Diabetic Foot” by Zachary Nellas, MD.
Saturday started with a comprehensive presentation on “Deformational Plagiocephaly” by Jennifer Baxley, PA-C. The next presentations were “Effectively Working with Vascular Surgeon and Vascular Patients” by Augustine Eze, MD, and “Hybrid AFO for Treatment of Charcot Foot and Fixed Deformities” by Frank Caruso, CO.
The 2011 Annual meeting was a great success. IAAPOC’s 2012 annual meeting will be held in Jacksonville, Fla. in April or May of next year.
