Custom-designed by VOA Architects, the Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC) site has won a 2011 Merit Award for Interior Buildouts from the Chicago Building Congress. NUPOC contended with three other major commercial projects to become a Finalist in the Interior Buildouts competition in the greater than $50 million range.
NUPOC celebrated completion of this award-winning new site in November 2010 by hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House that was presided over by Northwestern University President Morton O. Schapiro. The event was widely attended by professionals in the P&O community, NUPOC graduates, and faculty from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Winning the 2011 Merit Award for Interior Buildouts puts NUPOC in company with some of Chicago’s most prestigious architectural icons, including the Prudential Building, McCormick Place, Continental Plaza, Sears Tower, Water Tower Place, Chicago Cultural Center, Adler Planetarium Sky Pavilion and the Art Institute of Chicago Modern Wing. Each of these architectural projects has received a juried Merit Award from the Chicago Building Congress for distinctiveness of design, quality of construction, impact upon the community, and safety record. NUPOC is delighted to conduct its research and education in this award-winning space.
