The Amputee Coalition of America (Amputee Coalition) has elected Leslie
Pitt Schneider of Minneapolis to its 2011 board of directors.

“As an amputee, an attorney and a registered nurse, Leslie brings a
wealth of hands-on and regulatory experience to the Amputee Coalition. As we
enter our 25th year in 2011, this is especially important as we begin our
strategic work to solve insurance issues for amputees, advance amputee care
systems and build a limb loss prevention strategy,” Kendra Calhoun,
president and chief executive officer of the Amputee Coalition, stated in a
press release. “We are fortunate to have a strong board of directors and
the dedicated support of the many volunteers who make our organization
successful.”
Currently, Pitt Schneider is the clinical and regulatory affairs manager
for Otto Bock HealthCare in Minneapolis where she directs the development and
management of the U.S.-based clinical and regulatory affairs department. Pitt
Schneider also holds certifications as a clinical researcher and a histologic
technician.
“Serving on the Amputee Coalition’s board of directors is an
honor, both professionally and personally, as the organization’s purpose
is one that truly improves people’s lives,” Pitt Schneider stated.
Having already been active in limb loss volunteer organizations, Pitt
Schneider cofounded and was director of Amputees Getting Into Life
Energetically (AGILE) in St. Louis. Through this organization she developed a
community outreach program and established a peer visitor program with local
hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
Pitt Schneider holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Olaf
College, an associate’s degree in nursing from Washington University
College of Nursing and a Juris Doctor from Concord University School of Law.
