The 6th Annual Celebrity/Amputee Golf Classic (CAGC) presented by Automated HealthCare Solutions will take place Feb. 10-11, 2011 at the Hyatt Bonaventure East Course in Weston, Fla.
This event is used as a platform to raise proceeds and awareness for the programs it benefits, and this year the proceeds will benefit two outstanding organizations.
The golf event’s primary beneficiary is Shake-A-Leg Miami which has developed a vocational program for injured service members coming back from Iraq or Afghanistan with physical, developmental and economic challenges; liberating them from a realm of imagination into a realm of experience by means of innovative sailing and water sports education and recreational programming.
The event will also support the Florida PDMP Foundation that spearheads the fundraising to implement Florida’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program will serve as an important tool in the fight against prescription drug abuse and diversion by helping to improve patient standard of care and stemming the tidal wave of prescription-drug-related doctor-shopping and criminal activity by pill mills.
“This tournament has proven to be something special, and a true reflection of each individual who participates in it,” David Bowen, CAGC Tournament founder and director, stated in a press release. “From the actors and professional athletes to the incredible abilities showcased by our amputee participants, it’s an unbelievable time for a deserving cause.”
