First Volley Adaptive Tennis was named the United States Tennis Association (USTA) – Iowa, District Community Tennis Association (CTA) of the Year in ceremonies held in Ames, Iowa.
“I am so happy to have OPAF in the Iowa District and see the great work they do. In the short year they have been here, I have seen more work and people reached with the message of tennis. They are a wonderful partner to collaborate with,” John Terpkosh, community program manager for USTA-Iowa, stated in a press release.
“This kind of recognition can go a long way in developing our program in Iowa. We now have established weekly adaptive tennis lessons in Waterloo, along with established First Volley programs running on both the East Coast and the West Coast. First Volley is impacting lives and growing the game of tennis. Along with our other First Clinics we are introducing the physically challenged population to adaptive recreation that they may have thought lost to them” Robin Burton, OPAF executive director, stated.
This is the second time that First Volley has been recognized as the CTA of the year. Previously they were awarded in USTA Middle States Section as well.
