Donald S. Davis Sr. of Moore, S.C. has been named lead Amputee Action Network advocate for South Carolina. Davis will lead the 2011 legislative agenda in the state, which includes many issues important to those with limb loss.
“Donald has been a champion for issues affecting those with limb loss in the state of South Carolina,” Kendra Calhoun, president and chief executive officer of the Amputee Coalition of America, stated in a press release. “As the Amputee Coalition enters its 25th year in 2011, Donald and his grassroots supporters are gearing up to pass prosthetic party this session. Donald will also be working to enact a gubernatorial proclamation in South Carolina declaring April Limb Loss Awareness Month.”
Davis recently completed a comprehensive course — the Lead 11 in 2011 — along with 10 lead advocates in other states, who will take on legislative initiatives in each of their states this coming year. The course centered on grassroots organization, lobbying, using support groups and media training.
