Team USA continued its success on day three of the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships by adding eight more medals and one world record performance to its results.
Getting things started for the women was Jessica Long who won gold in the 400m freestyle (S8).
In the 50m freestyle (S7), Team USA made a one-two-three sweep. Mallory Weggemann led the charge by winning gold and shaving more than one second off of her previous world record time. Teammates Cortney Jordan and Erin Popovich won silver and bronze, respectively.
Also making podium appearances were Ashley Owens, who won silver in the 100m freestyle (S10) and Kelley Becherer, who won bronze in the 100m butterfly (S13).
In men’s action, Team USA tallied two more medals to the overall count. Lantz Lamback won silver in the 50m freestyle (S7), while Tucker Dupree also won bronze and set a new American record in the 100m butterfly (S12).
