Scott Danberg has competed in four Paralympic Games. On Saturday at the U.S Paralympics Track and Field Chanmpionships, he broke the world record in the men’s discus with a throw of 32.26 m.
“My training has been consistent and all I needed to do was relax,” Danberg said in a press release. “I’ve got to be disciplined about channeling my energy. The last cue I got from my coach was ‘relax and throw,’ which put me in the right state of mind and my body just took over.”
U.S. Army veteran Jeanette Thompson had record-breaking weekend in the shot put, discus and javelin.
At the age of 21, Tatyana McFadden already has a collection of six Paralympic medals. But, she’s yet to win a gold medal. If her performance in Miramar is any indication, McFadden is on track to sit atop the podium at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London on multiple occasions.
McFadden won both the 100 m and 200 m events Saturday, to add to her 800 m title from Friday.
Anjali Forber-Pratt also performed well on Saturday breaking the American record and winning gold in the women’s 200 m and pushing a personal best in the 100 m to claim silver. Jessica Galli took gold in that event.
