Orthocare Innovations announced the addition of two new clinical services staff members: Michael Orendurff, MS, as director of activity monitoring and outcomes services; and Courtney Moran, CP, MS, as clinical services manager.
Orendurff is an internationally recognized thought leader and published author in the area of physical activity and gait assessment. He brings more than 18 years of experience conducting computerized kinematic and kinematic analysis of individuals with gait disorders. He joins Orthocare from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, where he served as division director of its Movement Sciences Laboratory. He previously served as a research health scientist at the Veterans’ Administration Center of Excellence for Limb Loss Prevention and Prosthetic Engineering in Seattle.
He received a bachelors of science degree in exercise science from Portland State University and a master’s of science degree in human performance-biomechanics from Oregon State University. He has served as a lecturer in the University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and currently is a clinical instructor in the orthotics and prosthetics program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
Moran joins Orthocare Innovations from the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where she served as a biomedical engineer and clinical consultant in the Biomedical Group, National Security Technology Department. In this position, she was staff clinical prosthetist and served in a management capacity on the DARPA Revolutionizing Prosthetics 2009 Program development team. Previously, Moran was in private practice as a clinical prosthetist at Dankmeyer in Baltimore.
She received her master’s of science degree in biomedical engineering prosthetic mechanics and materials from Rutgers University, and a bachelor’s of science in biology from Clemson University. She is also working toward a post-masters certificate in applied biomedical engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.
“The addition of Michael and Courtney further bolsters our clinical capability, and provides an excellent complement to our R&D team as we focus on transitioning technologies out of the lab and into clinical use,” Doug McCormack, Orthocare chief executive officer, said in a news release.
