Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA) announced its partnership with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) to sponsor team Missing Parts in Action’s participation in the 2010 Capital of Texas Triathlon on May 31 in Austin, Texas. Severely injured service members who have fought in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will participate in this race, where triathletes, from first timers to professionals, will compete in the different distances offered.
“Disabled Sports USA is pleased and honored to partner with Challenged Athletes Foundation to provide venues where our severely injured service members can achieve the highest level of athleticism,” Kirk Bauer, JD, executive director of DSUSA and a disabled Vietnam veteran, said in a press release. “This partnership will open up new opportunities for our severely injured service members, to rebuild their lives through extreme sports.”
Team Missing Parts in Action will participate as part of the DSUSA’s “Challenge Sports Series” of extreme athletic events to test and re-establish the skills of the severely injured service members. The team will consist of 10 disabled members.
