Cascade Orthopedic Supply Inc. announced that it will continue its efforts to assist those affected by the recent Haitian earthquake.
Cascade has connected clinicians with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) approved components manufactured by the Switzerland based supplier CR Equipements SA. These ICRC approved components are manufactured using polypropylene, a material that is durable, compatible with tropical climates, and easy for patients to maintain.
“Customers asked us to facilitate these parts because of the challenges in purchasing them directly from Switzerland,” Cascade’s sales and marketing manager John Cronin said in a press release. “So we have made the distribution of these products more accessible for the clinicians.”
Jeffrey Collins, president and chief financial officer, recently attended a container send-off at the Santa Rosa based not-for-profit organization, Prosthetika. Jon Batzdorff is leading the Haiti Prosthetic Assistance Project for Prosthetika and has outfitted two 20-foot containers with equipment to fabricate prosthetics in Haiti. These portable prosthetic labs will be the hub for educating Haitian technicians to fabricate, fit and maintain artificial limbs and orthopedic braces along with gait training and other patient related activities in the hospital.
