The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics Inc. (ABC) announced the release of its updated Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics Scope of Practice.
Changes to the Scope of Practice include a comprehensive definition of supervision and privileging of non-credentialed caregivers, as well as a supervision matrix for custom fabricated and custom fit-high levels of care.
“It was my privilege to serve as chairman of ABC’s Scope of Practice committee. The material covered impacts accreditation standards, state licensure standards, educational curriculum and ABC’s certification exams. The Scope of Practice will continue to be periodically updated as the practice of orthotics, prosthetics and pedorthics continues to evolve,” Rick Parr, CPO, FAAOP, chairman Scope of Practice committee, said in a news release.
