The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) announced its 2010 officers of the board of directors and two new board members. On Feb. 26, the ACA Board of Directors elected the following directors to officer positions: Marshall J. Cohen to the position of chairman of the board; Pat Chelf to the position of vice-chair; Art Bassin to the position of treasurer; and Rick Myers to the position of secretary. Each officer will serve for a 1-year term.
“I am honored to serve the Amputee Coalition of America as the chairman of the board,” Cohen, said in a press release. “I am dedicated to serving the limb loss community and ensuring that the Amputee Coalition is responsive to the needs of people affected by limb loss. We are a distinguished group of board members who, because of their strong leadership skills, extensive management experience, and proven track records, are able to make a difference and positively impact the lives this organization touches.”
Scott Stevens MD and Terrence P. Sheehan MD were elected to the ACA board of directors:
Stevens is a professor of surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and the director of its endovascular program. New to the board, Stevens wants to make a difference in the limb loss community, primarily through advancing the quality of life of amputees and through limb loss prevention messages. He was instrumental in getting a grant through the Physicians’ Medical Education and Research Foundation in support of the ACA’s Paddy Rossbach Youth Camp. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and a medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine (1984).
Sheehan is the chief medical officer of Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland Sheehan is the director of the amputee program and has worked for more than 15 years in the care of patients with limb loss. Sheehan received his medical degree from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed his residency in Boston at Tufts University with the New England Medical Center Hospitals.
