Jeff Millin, president and chief executive officer of Pioneer Surgical Technology, announced the appointment of Qibin “Chip” Bao, PhD to the position of chief technology officer.
Bao has 23 years of medical device research and development experience. Since joining Pioneer Surgical in 2003, Bao served as vice president of spine development. Prior to joining Pioneer Surgical, Bao held the role of vice president of research and development for Disc Dynamics from 2000 to 2003 and held a similar role with Advanced Bio-Surfaces from 1998 to 2000.
Bao earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in polymer chemistry from Zhejiang University in China and his PhD in chemistry from the University of Delaware.
In his new role Bao will be responsible for Pioneer’s continued effort in the area of motion preservation and will have responsibility for the evaluation of all potential products and projects
introduced to Pioneer to determine their fit with the strategic objectives and resources of the company.
