The Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification, International (BOC) has moved its headquarters from Columbia, Md., to Owings Mills, Md. The new address is 10451 Mill Run Circle, Suite 200, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
The BOC also has new local phone and fax numbers. The phone number is (410) 581-6222, and the fax humber is (410) 581-6228. The toll-free phone number remains the same at (877) 776-2200, as does its Web site, www.bocusa.org. Staff e-mail addresses also remain unchanged.
The primary reason for the move, according to BOC chairman Preston Madler, BOCO, is growth. BOC has expanded institutionally from an organization that historically certified practitioners of four professions into one that both credentials individuals qualified to practice in six areas and accredits DMEPOS facilities that meet rigid national standards. In alignment with an increased organizational scope, BOC has added several full- and part-time employees, in addition to its full complement of independent facility accreditation surveyors and other contractors who handle design, graphics, exhibits and special projects on an as-needed basis. Two summer interns also worked for BOC in 2008.
“The new headquarters will not only accommodate current staff and record-keeping needs,” Greg Safko, staff president said. “It also offers BOC a variety of options for current and future needs, in terms of meeting space, storage and IT capabilities. Simply from a communications perspective, the new building’s innovative technology, enhanced capacity and growth in staff utility will positively impact the relations and responsiveness with our numerous constituents.”
Madler noted, “Our new headquarters location allows us to meet present needs and anticipate future ones. It is a great location, in that it is close to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Washington, D.C., so we can meet with federal agencies and national legislators whenever the need arises. . . I invite all of our certificants to stop by, see our operation and, hopefully be inspired to volunteer for BOC committees and programs. Giving back to the field that supports you and your family is rewarding.”
