Theresa Bonnema, CPed, COF, has joined the staff of American Prosthetics & Orthotics Inc. (APO), at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics office.
Before joining APO, Bonnema worked as a pedorthist and orthotic fitter at Quality Prosthetic & Orthotic Care Inc., in Battle Creek, Mich.
Bonnema graduated summa cum laude from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., in 2003 with a bachelor’s of science degree in biomedical engineering. While a student, she also worked for the Food and Drug Administration in Rockville, Md., as a research intern.
She obtained her pedorthic training from Xtra Depth University, the pedorthic education arm of footwear manufacturer P.W. Minor. She was certified in pedorthics by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABC) in 2006. She became an ABC-certified orthotic fitter in 2004.
A native of Iowa City, Bonnema currently resides in Solon, Iowa with her husband, Adam, and daughter, Olivia.
American Prosthetics & Orthotics is a full-service rehabilitation facility headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.
