Lawrence R. Lange, CPO, FAAOP, a dedicated O&P professional for more than 27 years, died on July 15. Lange often volunteered his time and energy to national O&P organizations. He served American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics for 22 years as an examiner for the clinical patient management exams. He attained the fellow designation of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. His knowledge, teaching, clinical and technical skills, as well as his friendship, will be missed.
To honor his memory and his lifelong dedication to the profession, a fund has been established in his honor – the Lawrence R. Lange Travel Fellowship Fund. The mission of the fund is to award an individual completing their NCOPE accredited residency program with the opportunity to further their education and development as a professional in a particular aspect of orthotic or prosthetic care. The award will allow the successful applicant to spend a period of 7-14 days at a recognized center of excellence in the United States or abroad.
Tax deductible donations to the fund are now being accepted. Checks should be made payable to NCOPE, with identification in the memo line for the Lawrence R. Lange Travel Fellowship Fund. Checks can be mailed to: Lawrence R. Lange Travel Fellowship Fund, c/o NCOPE, 330 John Carlyle St., Ste. 200, Alexandria, VA 22314.
